Protein Maker

Accelerate your research on protein function with parallel purification.

Overview

Protein Maker

The Protein Maker workstation makes high-throughput protein purification chromatography simple by allowing you to run 24 columns, 50 mL or larger, in parallel, and process 8x samples unattended. Protein Maker’s flexible design allows you to customize sample and column system to achieve a variety of tasks.

How the Protein Maker Improves Throughput

Produce dozens of purified antibodies in a single day

Evaluate gene expression levels

Analyze functions of different enzymes or clones

Determine the best protein or enzyme purification method for scaling up
Screen constructs for protein structure studies

The new Protein Maker i-Software has a simulation mode that lets researchers create, test, edit, and archive new protein purification methods. In addition, the software includes modules for collecting and monitoring AI data, and gives scientists the ability to pause processes whenever they want.

Of course, the software also provides full control over the instrument’s syringe pumps, valves, and robot XYZ gantry. Protein Maker i-S easily allows the user to adapt the instrument to their unique needs.

Parallel Protein Purification

  • Load small (sub-mL) or large (4 L) volumes of each sample (up to 4 at a time)
  • Load and customize purification method with simple but flexible software
  • Fully automated purification set up and walks away, even run overnight
  • Run 2 chromatography columns (0–20 mL or larger) in parallel
  • Capable of running multi-column purification methods
  • Track real-time results with our 6-channel UV Monitor at 254nm, 270nm or both

Applications

  • Antibody purification from 5 mL or larger starting volume
  • Bead-free purification scale-up through parallelization
  • Multi-construct design for structural biology
  • Lysis buffer scouting

Operational Modes

  • Purification: 24 different protein samples, one type of chromatographic resin
  • Scouting: 24 different chromatographic resins, one proven sample
  • Multi-step: Automated, multi-column chromatography for up to 12 channels in parallel

Powerful, Flexible, Fast

The Protein Maker iSoftware’s flexible design lets you perform wide-ranging proteomics projects, or focus on a single gene product. It’s easy to customize your sample size and purification method for high throughput production of pure protein for anything from antibody production to X-ray crystallography.

Protein Maker FAQ

Common questions from scientist interested in purhcasing the Protein Maker.

How does the Protein Maker get rid of the bottleneck issues experienced with Protein Purification?

The Protein Maker systems enable researchers to process up to 24 purification runs in parallel, minimizing sample backup and progressing projects forward more efficiently.

What can the Protein Maker be used for besides protein purification?

Any column-based purification is doable on the system so biomolecules of many types can be processed with the platform (protein, nucleic acid, etc)

What are the common competitors of the Protein Maker?

While there are no clear and direct competitors for parallel purification system on this volume scale (i.e. mg+), there are different options if lower throughput, lower volume or non-column approaches are sufficient.

How many columns can the Protein Maker purify at once?

Most any column that operates at pressures of 6 bar or less.

What kind of microplates are compatible with the Protein Maker?

Any SBS plate is technically compatible. Most users make use of 24 or 96 deep well plates.

What types of columns are compatible with the Protein Maker?

Up to 24 on the PM24, or up to six on the PM6.

How fast can the Protein Maker complete a method?

The run time depends primarily on the number of method steps and the volume of sample to be loaded. Method time on the protein maker is substantially similar to other column based purification systems. However, the parallel processing capability of the Protein Maker makes it much more efficient on a per sample basis.

How user friendly or customizable is the Protein Maker software?

Customers find the software very simple to navigate and learn. Want to find out for yourself? Schedule a free demo today!

Does the Protein Maker have UV detection?

Yes. All of our systems have options for single or dual wavelength UV monitoring at 260 nm and 280 nm.

Does the Protein Maker have a way to monitor pressure?

We do not have active pressure monitors on the system. However, the system will pause if it exceeds 6 bat.
